Why in the Hell does Clark talk to a random priest about his identity? Surely Martha, his mum would have been a more obvious choice; or Jor-El; Lana Lang, Pete Ross or even Lois Lane would’ve been better choices; at least the latter would have helped broaden their relationship a little more, and perhaps justify the kiss at the end in a small way.
How is someone who has been brought up as human, and knows nothing of being Kryptonian meant to bridge the gap between two peoples? Surely that would have been a cue for the writer to have Kal-El spend more time learning from Jor-El, as well as finding out about Kryptonian customs etc from Zod, giving him two versions of what it means to be Kryptonian, then allowing Kal-El to make a choice between them and Earth. That would have been a choice. Being shown a suit that’s been trapped underground for 18,000 years (that some how fits) and told that he will give humans an ideal to strive toward doesn’t present any choice at all.
Jonathan Kent’s sacrifice in Man of Steel is pointless, because a lot of people in Smallville already know that Clark has powers, before he even puts on the suit and takes on the Kryptonians.
Still a really shit movie though.
